Dog Alerts & Warnings
Unfortunately not everyone is as dog friendly as the places and businesses listed on this site, and indeed some people go out of their way to be unfriendly to not only the dogs but owners as well.
Through this page we will bring you alerts and warnings from around the country about places to avoid at any given time for the safety and protection of your four legged friend, e.g. where poisons or sharps have been hidden in grass or food, suspicious activities which may lead to dog theft, along with less sinister but equally worrying natural problems like sink holes and newly breeding adders.
There is no central register or system currently for the reporting of these types of things so we are very much reliant on our users and friendly contributing vets. If you know of a problem in your area or an update to an existing problem please let us know using the form provided or drop us an email at support@dogfriendlytogether.co.uk. We will happily credit any contributing dog related business e.g. vets, pet shops, trainers, with a link back to their website.

South East London ALERT - Dogs poisoned by baits
Poisoned baits have been found near the Homestead Road end of Eltham Lower Park. Dogs are becoming ill after biting or digesting them. Luckily none have died yet, but this is due to the fast reaction of owners and vets.

Kent ALERT - Parvovirus - Felixstowe
A vets near Felixstowe is warning dog owners following cases of puppies with the highly infectious canine parvovirus.

Staffordshire ALERT - Harvestmite - Staffordshire
Vets in Tamworth and Atherstone are warning of dogs suffering an allergic reaction to harvest mites. Symptoms can vary but include incessant vomiting, depression and burning hot skin with a spotty rash.

Worcestershire ALERT - Parvovirus - Worcestershire
Vets are urging people to ensure their dog vaccinations are up-to-date due to an increase in the number of cases of the potentially lethal Parvovirus being seen. Symptoms include diarrhoea, sickness, lethargy and loss of appetite.

Cornwall ALERT - White Substance - Cornwall
Dog owners are being warned about a white glutinous substance, smelling like firelighters, being washed up on beaches in West Cornwall. One dog has died and another two are seriously ill.

Lincolnshire ALERT - Poison Warning - Lincolnshire
Dog owners are being asked to be vigilant after poisoned wildlife is believed to have been the cause of three dog deaths on Lincoln's West Common. It is most likely to have been rabbits carcasses. Please keep dogs on a lead and away from dead animals. Symptoms started with vomiting and quick deterioration - seek vet assistance if in any doubt.

Hertfordshire ALERT - Poison Warning - Hertfordshire
A dog owner is warning other dog owners who walk their dogs at Wormley Playing Fields. She believes her dog digested rabbit poison after contact with a rabbit carcass. Symptoms include vomiting, shaking and passing blood.

Cornwall ALERT - Fish Hooks - Cornwall
A dog owner is warning others to be vigilant after running up vet bills following a fish hook getting caught in her dogs mouth. It was buried in seaweed.
